Parade Resources

During Homecoming week, a variety of float decorating supplies and a limited amount of parade giveaways will be provided to student organizations and campus departments/offices to help offset the cost of participating in the parade.

Parade Store

Decorations and supplies can be selected and picked up at the UNI Parade Store in University Relations, 114 East Bartlett, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 16 through Thursday, Oct. 19. Materials are available to any UNI parade entrant (student organizations and departments/offices). 

Parade Store supplies will include:

  • Colored paper
  • Zip ties
  • Painter’s tape
  • Cardboard
  • Foam paint brushes
  • Yard stick
  • Duct tape
  • Markers
  • Streamers
  • Fringe
  • Balloons
  • Paint

*Candy and UNI-branded items will be available and distributed on parade day.

Extra supplies your organization or department may want to provide for entry: 

  • Battery operated lights
  • Wrapping paper
  • Yarn
  • ‌Foil
  • Floral/garland

Float Decorating Time and Locations

Join us at UNI's official Golf Cart Decorating Party on Friday, Oct. 20, from 2-5 p.m.

First United Methodist Church
718 Clay Street, Cedar Falls

Limited supplies and tools for float construction will be available at that site, including:

  • Scissors
  • Staple guns
  • Tape measure
  • ‌Wire cutters
  • Exacto knives and blades

Be sure to complete your decorations in time for parade float judging at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 21!

NOTE: Duct tape cannot be used to tape anything to the golf carts. No painting the actual golf cart. Items can be pre-painted and attached to the cart. Standard two-seat golf cart dimensions are: length = 94.5" / width = 47" / height = 45.7" / height with canopy/suntop = 68.5".
