Homecoming Safety Tips

  • Have a plan! Be responsible.

  • Surround yourself with people who have your best interest in mind.

  • Keep an eye on your friends. Never travel alone.

  • Leave with the group you came with.

  • Be aware of what’s going on around you at all times.

  • If you choose to drink alcohol, eat a substantial meal before you drink; pace your drinks to 1 drink per hour; measure your drinks; determine in advance not to exceed a set number of drinks; and avoid shots & drinking games.

  • Trust your instincts. If you feel unsafe or uncomfortable for any reason, call for help. In case of an emergency, call 911.

  • Need a ride? Don’t forget about the Weekend SafeRide, a free bus ride to campus residence halls, major apartment complexes, College Hill and Main Street between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. every Friday and Saturday night.
